Alta is tucked up Little Cottonwood Canyon, about 40 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) — and about 30 minutes from most Salt Lake locations, when there’s no snow or traffic.

options for getting to alta
RENTAL CAR
Salt Lake has all the major rental car providers. Please check the forecast while picking up your vehicle — if there’s snow, you will need AWD/4WD (it’s required by law for traveling up Little Cottonwood Canyon in snowy conditions). You will not need parking reservations for Alta at this time of year.
UBER / LYFT
Uber and Lyft will drive to/from Alta. Prices vary and can sometimes get expensive. Snow will also limit options, as many drivers don’t have AWD/4WD or don’t want to make the trek in sketchy conditions.
UTA SKI BUS
UTA offers public transportation to/from resorts through mid-April. It is free with your ski pass (show when boarding), or $5 each way. Learn more.
PRIVATE SHUTTLE
There are many private transportation options to/from the resort. You’ll find them listed here. Feel free to coordinate with other guests!
